Why are you bloggin'?

I have to admit, the FEBC Christian Blogger’s Fellowship Night had a tremendous impact on me. The first 3 questions asked by Ptr Ef Pallorina, FEBC Corporate Communications and Resource Development Group Officer, drive straight home. It feels like Neo in the Matrix movie taking the Red Pill– all of a sudden, I was pulled out of my comfort zone and taken into a place where I can have a vantage point of the real world around me. Not that I am oblivious, but deep in me I felt like there’s a deeper reason why.

Why are you bloggin’? The question required an honest answer. It triggered my brain to automatically go into self-confrontation mode. Or was it just my brain?  Can the answer be explained by mere logic and reason?

Why am I bloggin’? What drives me? Am I doing it for popularity? Page hits? Privileges?

In extended introspection, I found my soul in the confines of my secret place — where pride is abandoned, where the contents of the heart are exposed in the light of His glory. There, His Spirit asked the question, similar to the question He asked Elijah atop Mount Horeb.–the question of purpose.

“What are you doing here? Why are you doing this, Randy?”

He doesn’t have to ask. He is omniscient. So there he is, providing aid in the form of a question, so as to test my heart, and to allow me tap into the wisdom he Himself gave.

Search me, Oh God, and know my heart; 
   test me and know my anxious thoughts. 
See if there is any offensive way in me, 
   and lead me in the way everlasting. (Ps 139:23-34)

I was reminded of the first entry I published, my declaration of purpose,  and it reminded me of who w3bservant is.

What is that in your hand? Throw it to the ground!

Then, while still in my secret place, I think I saw a vision. The burning bush scene — a moment of confrontation.

 ¹ Moses answered, “What if they do not believe me or listen to me and say, ‘The LORD did not appear to you’?”

 ² Then the LORD said to him, “What is that in your hand?”

   “A staff,” he replied.

 ³ The LORD said, “Throw it on the ground.”

   Moses threw it on the ground and it became a snake, and he ran from it. ⁴ Then the LORD said to him, “Reach out your hand and take it by the tail.” So Moses reached out and took hold of the snake and it turned back into a staff in his hand. ⁵ “This,” said the LORD, “is so that they may believe that the LORD, the God of their fathers—the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob—has appeared to you.” (Exo 4:1-5)

“Randy, what do you hold in your hand?” 
I looked, and saw what I was holding. “Lord, a laptop, a mobile phone, and a broadband modem”.
“Throw it to the ground”. 

This is why I am bloggin’. I have a purpose why I write. I may not know exactly what will come out of it after I throw it to the ground. Will it also become a snake? I dunno. But whatever it will be, I know I have two choices: Either I ran from it, or I take it by the tail.

I choose to believe, obey, and take it by the tail.
